On September 6, five students from Aoyama Gaikun University in Tokyo Japan visited Maekanpom village, where ADRA Thailand supports and administers the Integrated Area Development Program (IADP) and they also visited the Keep Girls Safe shelter in Chiang Rai. The field trip was led by Prof. Hiro as part of the university’s International Development Studies. All the students were first year alumni. The students and Professor visited the gravity-fed-water system at Mae Kanpom which is funded by the Japanese Embassy Thailand. They met with ADRA Thailand’s IADP staff and interviewed a village chief to get a firsthand overview of the village’s development.     Next, the group visited the KGS shelter where they met ADRA Thailand’s KGS staff and learned more about the project and the children it aims to protect. The girl’s from the shelter performed dances and sang for the group to welcome them.     The students gained a rich experience that they took back home to Japan with them. We wish to thank Prof. Hiro for his interest and welcome him and his students back any time Domo Arigato Sensei Hiro! Â
